Spread 'em

Dear Sweet Baby A (today might be the last day we call you that!),

If you would kindly spread those little legs and show your goods today, your Dad and I would greatly appreciate it!  We promise this will be the only time we condone and encourage this type of behavior.  We hope you are in there growing and staying healthy.  We are so excited to know who you are and start talking to you!!!  We read that you are going to start hearing our voices this week and other muffled sounds, so we will try to watch our tongue! ;)

Please know we are getting more and more excited every single day to meet you in just 21 short weeks (please don't make Mommy wait ANY longer than this!!!).

You keep cooking away and forming all those beautiful fingers, toes, and everything in between.
We love you Macks or Gia...we already do! :)

Love,
Mom and Dad  (so weird!)

Flame Thrower

Seriously...Who gave the baby a flame thrower?  I read today that heartburn may begin setting in during week 19 of pregnancy.  Awesomeness.  I have NEVER had heartburn before.  Remember earlier in my posting I said how much I love spicy food? This is going to be a problem you see, because Reagan doesn't like being told what to eat and what not to eat.  However, she does like to refer to herself in the third person.  If what happened to me today is a sneak peak of what I am in store for.  S H I T!

Flashback to 10 years ago.  I was back home in Brookfield and had to go in for a procedure (one you don't really want to know about) where I needed to cleanse out the digestive system (aren't you glad I am not going into much detail here!).  Anyway, I was told to be on ONLY BROTH for 24 hours before the procedure.  I seriously cried like a baby to mom (she is shaking her head up and down right now in agreement) to just allow me to put something the soup.  I of course was thinking something like steak...she told me to go right ahead and put it in there, but that the outcome may not be lovely for anyone involved.  So, see???  For 24 hours I had a problem with someone telling me to not eat something.  And now I may be looking at a lifetime of this? (okay lifetime is a tad dramatic, but HELLO, you are on my blog!)

So, do you really think that heart burn, indigestion, upset stomach (I could totally go into the Pepto Bismol jingle here) is going to go over smoothly?  Doubtful.  Today I got the amazing joy of having heartburn, which I thought was just queasiness from taking my prenatal on too empty of a tummy...not so much.  So as I was feeling queasy, I quickly grabbed 2 plums and ate them to fill up the tank.  10 minutes later I tell my students Mrs. Allegri will be right back---raced out the recess doors, and up come the plums.  Alert:  Plums are not easy to bring back up.  This in turn busted some blood vessels under my eyes and left me feeling like complete crap all day.

Now the school day is done and I am taking my bloodshot eyes to bed.

It was Professor Plum on the playground at school with the flame thrower.

Mini Meltdown

I have been pretty proud of myself and my hormones during this pregnancy.  No real meltdowns, no freak outs, not uncontrollable wigouts (which is strange, as these all seem par for the course Reagan plays on!) ;)  However, while at the lake this weekend with my family (which was awesome) I had a small breakdown.

Let me begin with these 4 words: PREGNANCY GLOW MY ASS!  There is no such freaking thing.  Want to know what is glowing?  The oily shine on my t-zone.  Want to know about that impeccable skin tone?  It is a bunch of crap.  I have roughly 13 zits on my face right now making me look like a pubescent girl who is stressed about getting nominated for Valentine's Princess the 8th grade Sweetheart Dance.  I choose to not discuss this particular event at this time, as I was not nominated for princess and have clearly not quite gotten over.  BTDub, don't even get me started on Prom.

Anyway, back to my meltdown.  So I am getting ready to go shopping with my mom and Jamie at the outlet mall and all of a sudden I can feel the heat and aggravation creeping up my neck.  Essentially my meltdown consisted of me telling my mom in a 4 year old whine, that I look like I was attacked and stung by a swarm of bees, my hair looks like I put my finger in a flipping light socket, and my bump has me looking like I should put the buffalo chicken dip down and step away from the table.

Mom told me I look pretty. Thanks Mom.

So to make myself feel better I went to the outlet mall and bought some underwear that fits.  Joy, pure joy I am experiencing these days. : /

Here is the bump!

8 Days!!!

Had my monthly appointment today with Dr. White.  Baby A's heartbeat was going strong at 157 and we set up my OB ultrasound for next Thursday.  I will officially be 19 weeks, so that is right in the middle of the range they will see me (18-20 weeks to find out the gender).  This visit will be lengthy because they tell us the gender, fingers crossed he/she wants to show us his/her goods.  Please note, I will not be a mother that will encourage/condone this behavior once out of the womb.  They will also be checking the organs, the arteries, umbilical cord, and tons more.

I cannot wait to find out what is in my belly---right now it seems like just gas ;).
So look for the update on Thursday if our future will be full of pinks and purples, or blues and reds (barf that reminds me of KU) blue and black!

Gia or Macks...who is in there???

Utah!

Returned home from a wonderful but quick trip out to Utah to visit my aunt, uncle and cousins for my cousin Emily's high school graduation.  I have never laughed so hard and it was just what the soul needed!  I am so proud of my family!  Here are a few pictures of our trip!

Sober Living

Hi, I'm Reagan, and I have been sober for 18 weeks....all respond, "Hi Reagan."

*Please note, I don't like peanut butter, so the whole peanut butter and jelly combo makes ZERO sense to me (I grew up only wanting jelly on my sandwich...well, because I am smart...So with that said, just as peanut putter and jelly go hand in hand....so do golf and beer.  Remember back to my post a few weeks ago about the whole "It's not too terribly bad, this whole no drinking gig."  I still feel that way for the most part, but DAMN...being on a golf course and drinking Aquafina, Gatorade and Iced Tea...just makes zero sense.

To best describe the confusion of not marrying these two items I will give you scenario.  Imagine someone approaches you and says,"Hey, here is 100 dollars, except you can only spend the money at DEB."  Any sane person would respond, "Really, DEB?  No thanks, you keep your $100."  That is the same way about golf and beer.  To go to a golf course and not drink beer is just ridiculous.

Daniel played in the Pepsi golf tournament in Brookfield this weekend, so when I returned from Utah (separate post for this!) I headed back with Mom to watch him play, and then catch my dad, brother and uncle on their afternoon round.  Beautiful day and great sunshine, but I was so sad to hear bottles of beer cracking open around me.  But the torture doesn't end there.  My family heads to the lake for our annual family weekend in 5 days, on a golf course nonetheless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the time when I think that the wife should do half of the pregnancy and the husband should do the second half...if that were the case I would only have 2 weeks left until I could crack open and ice cold beer!  But, it's not my reality, so another 22 weeks I go.

Soberly,
Missing Michelob Ultra
